Exam Requirements
JRE

CRE / BLNST
Relevant graduate-grade posts normally require CRE language/aptitude results and BLNST pass before appointment.

Current official information
Use the official JRE guidance as the controlling source before applying. The 2026 JRE is tentatively scheduled for 5 December 2026. The AO / EOII recruitment application period closed on 2 October 2026; exam invitations and other result conditions are separate. JRE preparation should be tied to target posts, not treated as a generic essay exam.

Official Structure
The JRE lasts three hours. Candidates complete one English and one Chinese question, each with case background, and must complete all questions to be considered for second-round selection.

What the Marker Needs to See
JRE assesses analytical and written communication abilities. Strong answers frame the problem, select relevant evidence, compare options, make a practical recommendation and address risk.
