JRE Guide
Joint Recruitment Examination guide for policy writing, bilingual analysis, case-background use and free judgement practice.
Exam Requirements
JRE
Three-hour exam requiring one English and one Chinese answer with case background.
Selection Stages
- 1 Practise issue framing, evidence grouping and option appraisal.
- 2 Write timed English and Chinese outlines every week.
- 3 Review whether recommendations are feasible, prioritized and risk-aware.
Official Structure
The JRE lasts three hours. Candidates complete one English and one Chinese question, each with case background, and must complete all questions to be considered for second-round selection.
What Strong Answers Do
Strong answers frame the decision problem, select relevant evidence, compare options, recommend a feasible route and address implementation risks. Copying background materials indiscriminately is not enough.
Practice Route
Use MCQ judgement drills to sharpen framing and evidence selection, then write timed outlines. Premium guide coverage will add deeper issue packs, model structures and revision plans.
Interview Questions
- How do you avoid copying background materials?
- What makes a policy recommendation feasible?
- How would you balance speed and depth in three hours?
