Complete scenario rehearsal
During a scheduled community event, a visitor reports a concern about a facility and asks you to confirm whether it is safe. The event lead is occupied, the report is incomplete, and another team member has already written a different account. How would you respond?

Reveal the worked response
I would stay calm and avoid giving a safety assurance or technical conclusion that is outside my authority. I would establish the visitor’s exact concern, the location and when it was noticed, while distinguishing what the visitor reported from anything I directly observed. I would promptly notify the designated supervisor or event lead using the approved channel, state that the information is incomplete and mention that a second account exists. I would preserve both accounts, record their sources and times, and avoid editing either person’s wording without a transparent correction process. I would follow the supervisor’s instructions, use only approved public information, and refer any further questions to the authorised person. Once the immediate handover is acknowledged, I would update the event record with the actions taken and any unresolved follow-up. This approach supports timely review while avoiding speculation, unauthorised reassurance or loss of a useful source record.
